Safety Tips for Our Customers

TOP 5 Warning Signs of a Possible Scam

  1. Incorrect Contact Details The contact information doesn't match up. This could be a simple typo, but it might also indicate dishonest practices. If the email, phone number, or fax number is incorrect, proceed with caution.
  2. Suspiciously Low Price Prices that are significantly lower than similar items should be approached with skepticism and caution. The risk of a scam is high, whether through document forgery, the item being stolen, or the item not existing at all.
  3. No Advance Payments Never agree to advance payments by cash or checks. The offered item might not exist!
  4. Caution with Cash, Bank Transfers, and Checks Never transfer cash to strangers. As a seller, be cautious with checks, as they might be forged!
  5. Be Careful with Transport Order Receipts or Confirmations Be critical of transport order receipts, especially if the seller demands partial or full payment immediately. The confirmations could be forged!

Personal Information

Personal information, bank, or credit card details are used exclusively for the payment of your advertisements. They will not be requested again at any other time. Never give your password or username to unknown third parties. Handle your data carefully and be aware of the dangers of fake emails and “phishing.”

Payment Methods

Protect yourself from fraud attempts. DBMB is not involved in the buying and selling process. All agreements are made between the buyer and the seller. DBMB has no further information about the involved parties and cannot provide guarantees or risk assurances. Liability for any damages is excluded (see also our General Terms and Conditions of Patzer Verlag GmbH & Co. KG).

Cash: Do not make advance payments! Please consult your bank for secure payment methods. Never give payment-relevant data to unauthorized third parties. Be aware of the risks of conducting business over the internet.

Checks: Checks are often used for fraud attempts. Insufficient funds, stolen checks, etc., are significant risks. This is especially true for business connections abroad. Therefore, it is best not to accept check payments!

Machine Handover

Always be cautious when meeting unknown buyers and sellers. Go to the meeting with a companion. Never carry the purchase amount with you. Always verify the identity of the buyer and seller, as well as the machine. Vehicles, machines, and equipment might be stolen. Dishonest buyers might attempt to steal them during a test drive. Thoroughly check the machine for price and function-related features. Protect yourself against possible manipulations.

Purchase Agreement and Transport

Be cautious with the "fine print" and ensure that additional features are contractually listed. Verify transport confirmations and be wary of fake receipts.

Buying and Selling Abroad

All previously mentioned warnings apply to purchases and sales abroad. Special caution is advised when negotiating in foreign languages. Seek support from trusted individuals who speak the language.
